The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) is looking for a Communication Intern – 6 months - to join our team in Brussels.

ABOUT THE COMMUNICATION DEPARTMENT
The EBU Communications Team is a busy multi-skilled department that delivers corporate communications, media relations, direct marketing, digital communications including the EBU website, social media and much, much more. We serve the whole of the EBU with first-class communications content, working with a range of departments and units including News, Legal and Policy, Sport, Music, Radio, TV, Digital, and Young Audiences.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION
The Communications Intern supports a wide range of communications activities under the direction of the Communications Manager in Brussels, with a specific focus on the EBU’s advocacy arm and close collaboration with the EU Institutional communications within the Legal and Policy Department. The role combines media relations support, digital content management, social media coordination and administrative follow-up tasks.
Support with Media Relations
Maintain relationship with the press cuttings service (Meltwater), brief them on the department’s main stories, collate cuttings as required, and create media searches
Update and create mailing lists and research new media contacts
Support press release distribution using Cision
Web and Social Media
Upload and update articles on the EBU website, research photographs and manage photo gallery uploads
Draft posts for Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn, research social media handles, manage YouTube uploads, create Bitly links/QR codes
Create basic social media assets (e.g. infographics, quote posts, video elements) using tools such as Canva
Occasionally take photographs at EBU events
Support data gathering and visuals for analytics
Other Tasks
Monitor and organise the department mailbox
Maintain digital tools for evaluation purposes
Follow up on queries from Members and internal departments as directed
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES
The role requires strong organisational and communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage a variety of tasks in a dynamic environment. The intern should be comfortable working with digital tools and supporting media and social media activities, while collaborating closely with different teams.
Ability to maintain and update media and mailing lists
Strong research skills (media contacts, photographs, social media handles, factual content)
Ability to draft social media posts for different platforms
Comfortable using digital tools such as Cision, Meltwater, Canva, Bitly and YouTube
Ability to upload and manage web and photo content (EBU photo gallery)
Basic ability to create visuals and simple infographics
Organised approach to mailbox management and follow-up of queries
Ability to support data gathering and preparation of analytics visuals
Flexibility to handle varied tasks within the Communications department
LANGUAGE - Proficient English is essential. Knowledge of French and other European languages is an asset.

This internship offers valuable hands-on experience across a broad range of communications activities within an international environment. The intern will gain practical exposure to media relations, digital content creation, social media management and analytics.
The varied nature of the role allows the intern to develop adaptability, strengthen research and organisational skills, and build a well-rounded understanding of advocacy-focused communications within the EBU.
