Eurovision Italy (EI), the Italian subsidiary of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), is seeking a Head of Eurovision Italy to lead our operations in Rome. This is a unique opportunity to direct a key editorial and operational hub for the world's leading alliance of public service media.
ABOUT EUROVISION ITALY
Eurovision Italy (EI) is a fully-owned Italian subsidiary of the European Broadcasting Union, the world’s leading alliance of public service media organizations. EI plays a critical role in supporting the EBU’s activities in Italy, Vatican City and globally. EI’s core activities include:
- Providing technical broadcast services to EBU Members and other media organizations. These “inhouse Members” are based in our leased office space in Rome or elsewhere in the city.
- Supporting the Eurovision News Exchange with content from Italy and the Vatican, from EBU members, other media and through our own newsgathering.
- Working for Eurovision News Events in the region and worldwide to provide broadcast support services to the international news media. They also partner with event organizers. N.B. EI is the preferred partner for providing Eurovision News Events services for the international travels of the Pope and for major papal events at the Vatican.
- Providing network services to Eurovision Services (a former subsidiary of the EBU, now a separate company).
- Maintaining and strengthening the EBU’s relationship with EBU Members RAI and Vatican Radio, as well as with Vatican Media.
- Providing services to the EBU’s Technology & Innovation in the domain of emerging technologies for content production and distribution.
- Providing conference/event production services in Italy and across Europe to the EBU’s Member Relations and Communications department.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION
As the Head of Eurovision Italy, you will be the strategic, editorial, and operational leader of the company. You will be responsible for all EI activities, ensuring financial health, legal compliance, and journalistic excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead & Manage: Provide inspirational leadership to the EI team, overseeing all operations, finances, and administration. Drive business development, negotiate key contracts, and ensure the company's sustainable growth.
- Drive Editorial Excellence: Direct the news agenda and content strategy for Italy and the Vatican, upholding the highest standards of public service journalism.
- Cultivate Key Relationships: Act as the EBU's primary ambassador in the region. Nurture and expand our critical relationships with RAI, the Vatican, government bodies, and international organizations.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES
We are looking for a seasoned professional with:
- Proven Journalistic Leadership: Extensive experience in a senior editorial role with impeccable news judgement and a deep understanding of global affairs.
- Unrivalled Local Knowledge: Established contacts and a strong working knowledge of the Italian media landscape, particularly RAI and the Vatican's media operations.
- Business & Leadership Acumen: Demonstrable experience managing a company in Italy, with robust financial literacy, strategic planning skills, and a talent for negotiation.
- Exceptional Stakeholder Management: The ability to operate with autonomy, make calm decisions under pressure, and act as a persuasive ambassador for the organization.
- A Commitment to Values: A passion for public service media and a dedication to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive team culture.
